Corrosion-resistant packaging eliminates the need for protective greases and oils
Packing for long-term protection and labor savings. This is one of the objectives of anti-corrosion packaging, manufactured to protect all types of metals from rust, especially those requiring sea and air transport. Some of the cases where this type of packaging is most commonly used is for packing parts before painting or for delivering spare parts in individual bags, to prevent them from rusting during transport or in the distributor's warehouse. The following are the different types of anti-corrosion packaging and their usefulness. What do we achieve with them?

Types of corrosion-resistant packaging
Nowadays, there is a wide range of anticorrosive products available to reduce costs and improve sanitary safety. The products ControlOx products provide 2 years of corrosion protection and offer the possibility to protect component parts and machinery from rust for up to 15 years or more with the addition of VCI emitters. This enhances their effect and other packaging additives, such as barrier plastics, for example. In turn, you also save on labor costs, since the need to apply and clean protective substances is eliminated, and you can forget about using expensive rust inhibitors and desiccants. The different types of anti-corrosion packaging can be grouped into four main groups:
1. VCI stretch Film
It is an environmentally friendly material, as no oil or grease is used to prevent corrosion. It is made of totally organic materials and the polyethylene is recyclable.
2. VCI bags, sheets and tubes
VCI bags are the best solution for packaging and protection in a single step, from small bags for one part to a large pallet with a big bag designed with double reinforcements. Within this category there are different types of each product, such as:
- VCI anti-corrosion bags: used in wooden, plastic and cardboard boxes, as covers and pallet covers. They protect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- VCI anti-corrosion ziplock bags: protect against corrosion of small and medium-sized parts and all types of metals: ferrous and non-ferrous. They are safe and easy to open and close. The closure is minigrip.
- Corrosion resistant PE VCI film: can be printed or anonymous and are recommended for large and small parts, ocean shipping and warehousing. VCI shrink and VCI LDPE.
- VCI reinforced film: special packaging with VCI woven film. Ideal for steel coils or other heavy parts, it is also 100% recyclable with polyethylene.
- VCI anti-corrosive tubing: LDPE tubing coils that allow the product to be conveniently wrapped.
- VCI anti-corrosive shrink film: VCI shrink film from 100 to 300 microns. Protection for motors and machines, or other already assembled parts.
3. VCI anticorrosive paper
- Anticorrosive VCI Kraft paper: in rolls or single sheets of different sizes and weights to cover all metal parts. Long-term storage, whether large parts individually or small parts in bulk. Nitrite-free and 100% recyclable and safe for health.
- VCI raffia paper: raffia protects large components and metal parts. Woven with polypropylene and laminated with a layer of VCI polyethylene plastic.
- VCI paper + raffia composites: solution created for materials that are exposed to aggressive atmospheres during transport. For metal parts and components.
4. Other anticorrosives
- VCI anti-corrosion bubble: metal protection with bubble envelopes.
- PE plasticFilm : with high-tech resins and VCI treatment. A protection for packaging of parts and components in transport or storage processes. It is 80 microns and can be monolayer or coextruded. Formats: reel, sheets, sacks and bags.
- VCI emitters: different formats and degrees of concentration. They work separately, individually or together with other VCI protections and provide efficient performance over a long period of time.
- Corrosion resistant PE wire: created to protect internal metal surfaces of pipes, fittings and ducts during storage or shipping. It is recommended for use only inside pipes, fittings and ducts with a diameter not exceeding 150mm.
- VCI anti-corrosive liquids: can be applied by means of diffusers of all types, creating an anti-corrosive film that protects oxidizable products during processing, cleaning and storage before applying the final anti-corrosive packaging.
- Cardboard boxes: contains pre-applied VCI additives. Hermetic seal and no need for additional packaging.
- Desiccants - Anti-humidity: Silica, Clay and Calcium Chloride desiccants to solve problems in transport and storage due to environmental humidity.
- Aluminum thermoweldable: one of the most widely used materials to protect metal and electronic components. Together with desiccant salts, it prevents humidity over long distances. It is also used in machinery and long-term protection.
What are they for?
In a nutshell: the different types of anti-corrosion packaging serve to coat and protect metals, while also eliminating the need to apply protective greases and oils. What do you get out of it?
- Comfort. The material is easy to use. Clean, recyclable and safe for operators' health.
- Time saving. You forget about subsequent cleaning with solvents or other products.
- Compatibility. They are compatible with liquid VCI products and any other type of plastic and foam packaging.
- Avoid the use of expensive antioxidants and desiccants. They do not contain nitrites and nitrates, phosphates and chromates.
